An indoor lighting contract begins with a retrofit or group relamp. That may or may not be true of an outdoor lighting contract. The cost of the lamps will help determine how many of the working-order lamps will be replaced in the beginning.

After the initial service, the customer receives a specified number of service calls—usually the equivalent of one per month for the term of the contract. Contract periods vary and can be as long as 60 months.

The cost for the service is based on the number and types of lighting fixtures and is spread across the length of the contract. The total price is broken down into monthly payments, which commence after an initial down payment.
