The disposal of fluorescent lamps, HID lamps and PCB containing
ballasts are an environmental concern that must be addressed by the owner of a
facility. Disposal of spent fluorescent and HID lamps is regulated.
PCB ballasts are controlled by the TSCA Act of 1976, which
deals
with the manufacture and distribution of PCBs and also regulates their disposal
and storage. An estimate for the packaging, handling, transportation and
disposal of approximately 3 to 10 dollars per PCB ballast may be encountered.
Luminaire can assist in the disposal of both lamps and ballasts.
